Aluminum stranded wire, steel core aluminum stranded wire

Aluminum clad steel stranded wire (LGJ) is commonly used as the conductor in China; Steel core mainly serves to increase strength, while aluminum stranded wire mainly serves to transmit electrical energy. The cross-sectional area of the wire varies depending on the voltage. For example, the conductors of domestic 500 kV transmission lines are generally LGJ-400/35 conductors. L is the abbreviation for aluminum wire, G is the abbreviation for steel core, J is the abbreviation for stranded wire, 400 is aluminum 400 square millimeters, and 35 is steel 35 square millimeters.

Aluminum wire joints should be welded using resistance butt welding, cold press butt welding, or resistance cold heading welding.

The joint of resistance butt welding should be annealed, with an annealing length of at least 200mm on each side. The mechanical strength at the joint does not need to reach the mechanical strength of the aluminum wire substrate.
